Lookie! I planted parsley seeds and they finally sprouted!! I’m pretty excited about this, as you can tell. I think usually this activity is a person’s first biology lesson as a four-year-old, but i don’t think we ever actually planted seeds individually at my school. This is the first time i’ve ever grown something from seed, and i’m probably just as thrilled by it as i would have been as a preschooler.
We’ve been out running, picnicking, going to shows and generally enjoying Spring. It’s wonderful, but i still can’t wait until summer so that i can stay out past sundown without a jacket – provided the mosquitoes aren’t too bad this year.

Congrats!! I’m a big fan myself. I have a few Basil plants that are really starting to grow. I have a few pepper plants also, and I can’t wait to see if they’ll grow indoors. (the problem with apartment living with no deck) Oh, I also have a couple of Bean plants (same as last year) and those are fun. They grow fast and actually fruited some beans to eat.
Basil is my favorite though, because I LOVE cooking with it, and it’s so easy to clip a few leaves off here and there when you need them instead of going to the store and over paying for the little you need.

Hey, that’s cool. Buuuuuuuuuuuuut… Why would you even wanna grow something that just gets tossed off the plate immediately anyway? Lol. Sorry to be a kill joy but, yeah, parsley is lame, haha.
Btw, you don’t capitalize seasons… Interestingly, you decided to do it once (Spring) but not do it the second time (summer) in your sentence. Covering your bases, eh?
Just being a butt-head big bro! LOVE YOUUUUUUUUUU!!!

Hm, so capitalize days of the week, months of the year, but not seasons? Ok then. I don’t know why i did the one but not the other.
Parsley is a pretty important ingredient in a lot of Italian dishes – like Grandma’s amazing sauce and manicotti. And buying a giant bunch of it when you need two tablespoons is annoying. Besides, mama gave me the seeds.

No way. I bet you/we’d never know the difference between those dishes made with or without parsley!
I swear, I looked up the rule on the seasons deal a while ago. I was surprised.

It might get tossed off the plate eventually, but I remember how FUN it was to be able to put a bit of parsley on our plates from the plant I grew on the windowsill once upon a time!

Steph-
Just catching up on your blog now and I get as excited as a preschooler when my seeds sprout too! It’s so silly really, both my roommate and I talk to out plants as if they’re children! It’s amazing how they can be a seed one day and just a couple months later producing their own fruit… anyway, you’re not the only one fascinated by this!
