I took this photo of our new hatchlings over the weekend. By now all five have hatched and are growing fuzzier every day, but they don’t have a lot of energy so i haven’t been able to get a good photo of all five yet. Aren’t they so ugly??

Yeah, ugly! But cool photo. Baby birds are things only a (their own!) mother could love! Just really worried about where the poor mom is going to get food in an urban setting. Is Dad helping at all?

Yeah, the dad comes and feeds the mom, or if she’s away he’ll feed the babies. Usually the mom turns around and then feeds the babies after she’s been fed, which is gross.
They seem to just be getting uglier. Yesterday they started to look darker and their little spines started poking out. You can see the food they’ve swallowed, which is ultra gross.
