Welcome

The Counseling Student Association (CSA) is an organization of graduate students enrolled in Community Counseling, School Counseling, and Counseling Psychology programs at the University of Oklahoma. CSA provides community outreach, peer support, social events, and professional development opportunities for its members. CSA also aids the entry of graduate students into counseling professions through such activities as mentoring new students, arranging colloquia, and providing input into program curricula and governance. As members of CSA, students gain opportunities to engage in teamwork, event-planning, and leadership skills as well as expanding their professional network in the counseling field. CSA meetings are held a minimum of once during the fall and spring semesters.

CSA promotes clinical excellence, research and academic achievement, community involvement, advocacy for student and professional issues, and understanding and appreciation for diversity. It also provides further opportunities for interaction between students, faculty, and staff. CSA consists of individual committees responsible for all CSA activities. These include the social activities, continuing education, diversity, communications, community service, new student recruitment, and fundraising committees. Committees are led by chairpersons, who are selected by the CSA executive committee. During the fall semester of each year, students from all three counseling programs vote to elect the executive officers for CSA. The CSA executive officers consist of president, vice president (doctoral-level student), vice president (masters-level student), vice president of finance, and secretary.
